Obituary

Sumter, SC… Annie Ruth Singleton Sparks was born to the late Mildred Singleton Rice and Lewis Pringle in Pinewood, SC on June 25, 1952 and raised by her grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Singleton and later by her aunt and uncle, the late Mr. and Mrs. Robin James. Annie was called to her heavenly home on August 29, 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a faithful member of Kingsbury Road Church of Christ, where she served as church secretary for over many years.

Annie suffered severe hearing loss at an early age, yet, she successfully graduated from Furman High School in 1971 and attended Sumter Technical College from 1971-1972. She moved to New York, NY in her early twenties, where she resided until she moved back to Sumter, SC in 1991 where she worked for the Sumter County Assessor’s Office for nearly 23 years until her retirement.

Annie will always be remembered for her warm disposition, bright smile, and excellent baking skills. She enjoyed baking, making special treats for the holidays for family and friends and relaxing in different cities as she visited her daughter. Countless moments and priceless memories will forever dwell in the heart and minds of the loved ones that she leaves behind.

The ones who remain to cherish her precious memories are her loving daughter, Yasmin Jenkins (Jayson) and her doting son, Lamar. Her beloved granddaughter, Makayla and grandson (due Nov 2018). She is also survived by her siblings: Gail Singleton, Lagretta Pringle, Lissa Pringle Owens, Cedric Pringle and Geoffrey Rice and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband William J. Sparks of New York, NY and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Singleton, aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robin James-both of Pinewood, SC.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Kingsbury Road Church of Christ with Minister Melvin Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5:30-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home and on Thursday, September 6, 2018, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 am at the Kingsbury Road Church of Christ.
