Sumter, SC ……….. Jim Stanley, 73, formally from Chesapeake, West “By GOD: Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter, SC.
Jim was born on February 11, 1945 on Eskdale, WV to the late Edward Stanley and Elizabeth Hatfield. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with honor and valor in the United States Air Force. Jim aka “Pop” was a strong man, a man you could depend on; rely on whether you needed a friend and a cold beer after a rough day or simply a fishing buddy. His love and dedication to his family and friends was undeniable unwavering and true.
His memory will be forever treasured by his sibling, Chris, Craig and Debbie Chambers, all of Pennsylvania; three beloved children, Sherry Seals of Austin, TX, Jimmy Stanley, Jr.(Jessica) of Sumter, SC, and Donna Olson of Charleston, WV. Jim’s heart belonged to his precious grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Tiffany, Dylan, Jesse, Hannah, Zachary, Brandon and a great grandson, Sebastian. He was lovingly known was Uncle Jim to Doug, Bill, JT, Tammy, Libby and so many others. He will forever be remembered by his lifelong, closest and dearest friend Lee Smith.
Per Jim wishes, a Celebration of Life cookout will be held at 2395 Amy Lane, Sumter, SC on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family askes that memorials be made to the Disables American Veterans in honor of Jim Stanley.
