Lew Elmer Wallace, Jr.



Hagood, SC ……… Lew Elmer Wallace, Jr., age 85, beloved husband of the late Carolyn Beacham Wallace, died on Monday, January 22, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Lew Elmer Wallace, Sr., and Florence Rich Wallace. Lew served honorably in the Korean and Vietnam War in the USAF and retired as a CMSGT after 27 years. He loved fishing, playing cards, bowling and football. He spent his younger years playing fast pitch softball. He was the commander of the American Legion Post 175, Dalzell, also was a member and deacon of the High Hills of the Santee Baptist Church and the D.A.V. where he also drove veterans back and forth to Columbia.

Surviving are: two sons, Gregory S. Wallace and his wife Valerie of Hagood and Jack A. Wallace and his wife Annette of Wedgefield; one daughter, Kathleen A. Marsalko and her husband David of Columbia; one niece, Flo Baker of Chicago, IL; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lew E. Wallace,III, and his two sisters, Jackie W. Naiper and Ellen Wallace.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the High Hills of the Santee Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 17, Dalzell, SC or to the High Hills of the Santee Baptist Church.
