Obituary

Sumter, SC ….. William “Buddy” Murray Robinson Sr., age 86, beloved husband of 66 years to Kathleen Poston Robinson, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Palmetto Health Baptist.


Born in Florence County, SC, he was the son of the late William Edward Robinson and Maude Melton Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a veteran of the United States Army and a long time member of the American Legion Post 15, where he served as a past Post Commander and was a member of the baseball committee. He was also a past president and manager of the Sumter County Fair. Mr. Robinson never met a stranger and was an avid hunter, fisherman and reader. He was a long time member of Riverside Hunt Club and was a member and past president of the Mayesville Scape Ore Hunt Club. Mr. Robinson was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.


Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Joseph “Joey” Edward Robinson and his wife Linda of Sumter, Pamela R. Hyman and her husband Charles of Pamplico, SC and William “Billy” Murray Robinson, Jr. of Charleston, SC; three granddaughters, Megan Kathleen Hyman, Kelsey Elise Hyman, Caroline Grace Robinson and grandson, T.J. McLean.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Flowers.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 5:00pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wes Connor and Rev. Billy Lewis officiating.


The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Bullock Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 15.
