David I. "Hap" Day, Jr.



Sumter, SC…David I. “Hap” Day Jr., age 73, beloved husband of Linda Day, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Born in Evansville, IN, he was the son of the late Genieve and D. Irvin Day. He served as photographer in Vietnam and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He, then, went to be a new photographer for a television station in Evansville, IN and later for WIS-TV in Columbia, SC for 15 years. In retirement, he was a member of the American Legion, Post 15, where he was an active worker on the baseball committee.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Day of Sumter; a son, Mitchell Tucker and his wife Darlene of Waxhaw, NC; a brother, Donald Day of Evansville, IN; a granddaughter, Carly Burns and her husband Charlie of Spartanburg, SC; and a grandson, Evan Tucker of the US Marine Corp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Tucker.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Susan Price officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2018, one hour prior to the service, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
