Douglas Wilson Elvington



Sumter, SC ……… Douglas Wilson Elvington, age 75 beloved husband of 56 years to Alice June Wiggins Elvington, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.

Born January 14, 1943 in Lake View, SC, he was the son of the late, Leroy Elvington and Gertrude Hayes Elvington. Doug loved to read the newspaper and watch T.V.
He was a huge Washington Redskins fan and an avid Nascar fan. He never met a stranger and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a strong Christian and loved his family. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: three children, Kathy Ponds and her husband, Bruce, Karen Hardee and her husband Don and Roy Elvington and his wife Tammy; five grandchildren, Douglas Elvington, Wesley Elvington, Matthew Elvington, Kayla Alleman and her husband Adam and Jordan Cruz and her husband Dani; two sisters, Kathy Veilleux and her husband Paul of Lakeland, FL and Patsy McAbee of Spartanburg, SC.

A memorials service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 1:00pm at Bethesda Church of God.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 12:00 –1:00pm at Bethesda Church of God.

The family would like to thank, NHC, Iris Hall, Camellia Hall, Caris Health Care/ Hospice, Palmetto Health Tuomey ICU, and all the nurses and staff for all their support, love and care. The family appreciates you and your love during this difficult time.
