Sumter, SC …….. Patricia Anne Hodge, 52, passed peacefully at her home on January 25, 2018 in Sumter, South Carolina.
Patricia, or “Patty” as her loved ones called her, was born in the town of Reno, Nevada on April 19th, 1965. She was the first child, and only girl, of James and Thelma Mowatt. She traveled with her family throughout her childhood, attending school in Niceville, Florida and Leysin, Switzerland. As an adult, she went on to have two children, priding herself in being a caregiver and a loving mother and grandmother. Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she touched the lives of those who had the opportunity to know her. Her love of music, animals, laughter, and her family, whether by blood or not, was a gift that will continue to give long after her passing. Her signature trait of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and unique sense of humor, will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her father, James Mowatt, brother, James “Jimmy” Mowatt, two children, Joseph Mowatt and Veronica Fisk, and four grandchildren, along with numerous friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Thelma Mowatt.

Patty was probably one of the funniest people I have ever met. She made me laugh out loud so many times over the years that I am smiling as I am sitting here reflecting, To say she was full of life would be an understatement.
I am so sorrry Jim, Cory and Veronica; I know this will challenge your heart for a very long time. Know that your loved by many who will help you with this painful transitional journey. I hope you will in time be able to smile at the memories of Patty’s incredible humor, and see the laughter in the sparkle of her eyes.
Patty, Rest In Peace.

Patti and I went to Ruckel Jr High together, and both moved away for a while because of different military assignments. We reconnected on Facebook, and immediately became close. I told her all the time that she was such an awesome friend, and that I loved her like a sister. She always cracked me up with her rare, awesome sense of humor, and she always had such kind words for me. When I lost my cat of 13 years, on Jan 6, 2018, she sent me the sweetest message with a picture of her kitty and told me I could have it if I wanted. I was blown away by her generous offer and heart of gold. She even sent me a picture of her kitty all snuggled down on her bed. So precious. I told her I could never take away a kitty that she loved, but graciously thanked her. I'm in tears as I'm writing this, and words cannot describe how sad and upset I am over losing my precious, most special friend. Condolences to her beautiful children, dad, brother, grandchildren and all those affected by this tragic loss of the most beautiful soul, ever. PATTI, I will love and miss you forever.
