Dewey Cavanaugh Jowers



Sumter, SC…Dewey Cavanaugh Jowers, age 77, died on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born in Lake City, SC, he was the son of the late James Wilbur Jowers and Dora Mae Eaddy Jowers. Dewey served for over 26 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was the owner and operator of Terwood Mobile Home Park in Sumter for 30 years. Dewey was a master bee keeper and appeared on the cover of the American Bee Journal. He served as a board member of the High Hills Rural Water District and was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He was very involved in politics, especially the Republican party. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three daughters; Dee Jowers Hoehn and her husband Shawn of Florence, Stephanie Jowers Ensminger and her husband David of Birmingham, AL and Amanda Jowers Scott and her husband Derrek of Lake View; three brothers William Mackie Jowers and wife Christine of Charleston, Levon Jowers and wife Nanette of Johnsonville and Roby Jowers and wife Emmie of Johnsonville; three sisters, Frances McMakin of Kingstree, Regina Tanner and husband Joe of Hemmingway and Ernestine Perry of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren, Joshua Hoehn, Nolan Scott, Harper Scott, Scarlet Reese Scott and Amelia Ensminger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Jowers and a brother, Wilbert Jowers.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 4:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Florence National Cemetery with full military honors.
