Sumter, SC …….. Patricia Anne Hodge, 52, passed peacefully at her home on January 25, 2018 in Sumter, South Carolina.
Patricia, or “Patty” as her loved ones called her, was born in the town of Reno, Nevada on April 19th, 1965. She was the first child, and only girl, of James and Thelma Mowatt. She traveled with her family throughout her childhood, attending school in Niceville, Florida and Leysin, Switzerland. As an adult, she went on to have two children, priding herself in being a caregiver and a loving mother and grandmother. Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she touched the lives of those who had the opportunity to know her. Her love of music, animals, laughter, and her family, whether by blood or not, was a gift that will continue to give long after her passing. Her signature trait of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and unique sense of humor, will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her father, James Mowatt, brother, James “Jimmy” Mowatt, two children, Joseph Mowatt and Veronica Fisk, and four grandchildren, along with numerous friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Thelma Mowatt.

Mama, I opened my trunk today & was instantly brought to tears by your scent. I have your photos, your beloved dreamcatchers, your mail, your favorite coat... I can't bring myself to go through it all yet, because as silly as it sounds, I feel like it might make it more final than I'm ready for. I miss you so much it physically hurts when I think about all the great memories I have of you. Laid up watching late night Saturday cartoons, your awesome cooking & munchie plates, your laughter, your drastic hairstyles, your unique sense of style... I never got the chance to tell you... Thank you. Thank you for being both my Mom AND my Dad. Thank you for giving me my brother, Cory. And thank you for never apologizing for being uniquely YOU. I miss you & I love you today... tomorrow... And forever.

Death causes so much pain and sorrow in our lives, thus its an enemy. The death of Patricia, who was special to you, and many friends, leaves an empty spot in each person's heart. While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our Heavenly Father return your dear one to you. Please accept my condolences and prayer for comfort. Acts 24:15
