Celebrating the life of Jerry Hawkins Ross
Thank you for signing Jerry Hawkins Ross 's Guestbook
I worked with Jerry at Clemson's Sandhill Research Center in the late 70's. Jerry was one of the most devoted workers at Sandhill and became an encyclopedia of knowledge concerning peach production and virus indexing of peach trees. He was a joy to work with. He also was devoted to his church and would help anyone who crossed his path. I just found out last evening (1/4/18) about his passing after wondering what he has been doing for the past few years. So, I looked him up on Google and was saddened to find out he had passed. Heaven's gain!

Jerry was one of a kind. A southern country gentleman/farm boy who was so helpful to me when I stated my career with Clemson University in the mid-1980s. He was so friendly to the northern transplant that I was. I enjoyed coming to work to see him and talk with him about most anything. He worked so hard both for Clemson and on his family farm and when he retired he seemed so happy. I just wish he could have enjoyed his free time much longer. I missed his cheerful greeting after my relocation to campus many years ago. I had so much respect for him and hope he now can laugh at all of the crazy happenings at the Sandhill Station so many years ago. I miss you Jerry and I know those who knew and loved you feel the same way.
My deepest condolences to the Family,
PES Chair at Clemson University

I worked with Jerry when he was a resident of mine at Brookdale Assisted Living. He lived here for a year, and a half.. and in this time- touched my heart. Through the different stages of his disease, he never forgot my face, nor did he forget that my father was sick during this time. He would always ask me about him. Even when he didn't remember much else, he would make a point to ask me how he was doing, even after my dad's passing. I will never forget your sweet soul. I'm glad you are finally at peace, and in whole mind, body, and spirit once again. Until we meet again...
