Sumter, SC .............. Michael James Taylor, age 61, beloved husband of Karen Kopecki Taylor, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Born in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Ernest N. Taylor and Dolores Bender Taylor. Mike loved music, especially classic rock and enjoyed cruising. He played baseball all his life and earned a scholarship to play in college. He has an infectious personality and loved to make people smile and laugh. He was kind hearted and always willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered as a loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by: son, Damion M. Taylor of Gaston; daughter, Belinda Walker of West Columbia; brother, David A. Taylor of Atlanta, GA; grandchild, Michael Walker; brother-in-law, Robert Kopecki and his wife Sandy of KY; sister-in-law, Elaine Taylor of Columbia; niece, Susan Kay Stethen and her husband Jonathon of KY; four nephews, Robert Kopecki and his wife Katie of KY, Steven Kopecki of KY, Chris Taylor and his wife Carrie of Columbia and Joseph Taylor and his wife Kiyomi of Japan and his canine companion Ladybug.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark N. Taylor.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm at 125 Twilight Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
