Obituary

Walter Thomas Brown, age 76, beloved husband of 7 years to Margaret Van Albert Brown, died on Monday, July 10, 2017 at his residence.

Born in Asheboro, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Wylie Edison Brown and Gladys Sue Cox Brown. After High School, Walter, attended Duke University, where he was a member of the baseball team. After college, Walter joined the US Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam, where he received three Purple Hearts. After his service with the Marine Corps. he joined the Greensboro, N.C. Fire Department, where he drove the ladder truck. He served with the Fire Department for over 14 years before having to retire due to an injury. After, his retirement he drove trucks for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and loved exploring flea markets with his wife Margaret. He was an avid coin collector and Duke basketball fan. His true joy in life was spending time with his wife. She remembers Walter was a true gentlemen, who always opened her door and treated her with love and kindness. He was a member of the Springbank Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Sorrells officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Bullock Funeral Home.
